To those of us who grew up with Stalin & subsequent despots of the USSR as lethal enemies, & Putin as our current nemesis, the term ‘dictator’ has a definitive & bloody connotation.
What would you call an administration that deletes official governmental records, prevents all independent oversight, eliminates established freedoms and rights by Executive Order, and by bypassing established systems of governance under Members of Congress imposes its will on all citizens and residents?
I’d ignore all the sanitizing language and call that administration a dictatorship.
I’d also call the illegal strategy by which it usurped power a coup.
