The term ‘you can’t get blood from a stone’ springs to mind. Taxing the poor, and what was the middle class and are now increasingly poorer solves nothing. She’s seems to have a tunnel vision and be incapable of thinking in any logical way; mind you it seems her boss Starmer is of exactly the same mindset.

Tbf it is and has been the prevailing orthodoxy since Reagan and Thatcher. It's a kind of learned helplessness matched with the arrogance and hubris of power. Until we pull it all down, free market capitalism is going to continue to eat us and the planet.
