I've been reading up on the #RedNote app and it's by and largely hilarious.

From what I've read, may be incorrect but anyway, US government threatening to shut down US branch of TikTok so a fair few users have jumped to the Chinese RedNote app. Apparently it was raised by a bilingual Asian guy in Vancouver who put together a how-to to join and for some of the #TikTok folk to check it out, the Americans thought he was the CEO. Now there seems to be a mass of predominantly US folk downloading the app and looking into learning Mandarin. Which is brilliant to be fair.

The app itself is incredibly invasive, more so than TikTok 😱. The Chinese have a fantastic sense of cutting dry humour too. The Americans on RedNote are now learning that they've been fed bullshit propaganda and I'm interested to see where this goes.

Just adding the Chinese are using VPNs to get around censorship whereas the Americans are using RedNote to get around censorship. It's mind boggling.

RedNote are hastily bringing in translators to assist with folk crossing over, increasing ad reach outside of China and the app is currently number one in both main app stores.

But yeah, to reflect, the Chinese are teaching them Mandarin, and the Americans are teaching them English, and that really warms my heart.
