Tried using Thunderbird for the first time in... a very long time today. Unfortunately, I have a Gmail account. And IMAP doesn't play nicely with Gmail labels. So I am struggling to stop it from syncing tens of thousands of duplicate messages. Especially since the Thunderbird docs about Gmail contradict themselves.

I've been meaning to switch to a new provider but I've had a Gmail address for over twenty years now. Decoupling myself from that ecosystem is a long, ongoing process.

Also I already have other gripes about Thunderbird. Most of them are probably Gmail's fault but there are a couple of little irritants like threads not including my replies and the whole client lagging during heavy synchronization...
