Young people aged 14 would be allowed to work overnight during the school week in legislation championed by DeSantis

OK, child labour today, one assumes the resumption of (formal) slavery to follow. I suspect Florida has few chimneys that need cleaning, but with what DeSantis is doing with educations may mean that kids need to do something to occupy their time. Reeves are you watching for your next idea?

There was definitely a thing in Ohio last week proposing that 14/15yos be allowed to work longer hours during the school term. Whether it's actually been brought up for a vote I can't say.

Well I forgot to mention that forced labour in private prisons is a thing (I wonder who benefits?) so child labour - pffff, not even trying.

Aye, that's been the case for decades though. I came across a post about one in Louisiana the other day where the prisoners work the first three years for free, then get 2 cents an hour after that.

Th exemptions proposed in Florida include working nights - and one assume that will be the whole night before school the next morning.

I traced the bill’s origins. It was proposed by the Foundation for Government Accountability a conservative think tank based in Florida, but they’ve tried to get similar legislation in different states. They could also be behind the Ohio bill.

That will be factories, abbatoirs, and other dangerous jobs that are underpaid and not monitored. Vile. Child enslavement. Those kids will be likely abused too and no one will listen .💔
