My bike and I are exploring the “commune” next to ours, hoping to reach 90% (of all roads, tracks and paths).
Just had to explain to a man what I was doing after he warned me this track wasn’t going anywhere. He was duly impressed. 😄

Doing the final bits of an area can be frustrating (often non-existent, overgrown, muddy tracks etc), but it can also be fun. I’m always hoping for a treasure in a dead end. 😄 Sometimes there is, like a field with cute cows, horses or sheep.

Residential cul-de-sacs are also interesting cuz people feel more “private” there so you can see all the shit they leave outside their houses. OR the obscenely huge houses they built.

All that to say, cycling is great!!! 😆 And give Wandrer.earth a try if you wanna discover hidden gems (in a systematic fashion).

Where are all those communes and the communards?

@clarissawam
😆 commune is the Lux/French term for an administrative area. Like a council in the UK or a Gemeinde in Germany if that's where you are? No idea what they are called in Greece 😅
Because in English commune has the political meaning of a collective of self governed community.
yes, I know. This is why I put it in quotes. I didn't expect the toot to get so many boosts. My normal readers know where I live and what it means.
I was reading not long ago that authorities while trying to supress the movement of the Parisian commune referred to the participants as communards, which was a derogatory term for them. As time passed it received a form of pride to be a communard and the term was adopted in other European languages
