TIL of the Salem Hypothesis which is based on the observation that people who claim scientific expertise, whilst advocating creationism, tend to be engineers. The hypothesis postulates that engineering predisposes people to creationism (with the sole exception of chemical engineers).

Hmm, the people claiming scientific expertise who I remember from my evangelical days were mainly either science teachers, holders of an entry-level science degree, or self-taught. Although I do recall the very occasional more advanced degree.
