Just a (literal) heads up to anyone in Europe, northwest Africa, northeastern North America, Iceland, & the Danish/independent nation of Greenland 🇬🇱

If you have clear skies (we don’t), you should be able to witness a partial solar eclipse this morning, starting in around half an hour here in Heidelberg (your timing will differ).

The maximum magnitude is 94%, but much less here, so don’t look directly: use eclipse glasses or projection 🌞👍

Good luck.

A map made by Fred Espenak showing the path of today’s partial solar eclipse across a line drawing of Earth centred over Austria roughly.
Then again, if the cloud isn’t completely opaque, there may be some advantages 🤷‍♂️
A picture of the Sun taken through heavy cloud, showing the uneclipsed disk fairly clearly.
