The Fediverse has its own alternative to Twitch called OwnCast, a live streaming platform with built-in chat system.

You can follow OwnCast accounts from Mastodon etc and they will post in your timeline when they go live. You can also sign into OwnCast chat using your Mastodon etc account.

If you want to get started, I've just posted some good OwnCast accounts to follow over at @FediFollows

There is also a second alternative that is PeerTube, both for live (twitch) and stored (youtube) videos.
There is, yes!

However, I think OwnCast is a bit closer to Twitch at the moment as it has a Twitch-like chat system built in.

The PeerTube chat system is still an unofficial add-on that isn't present on every PeerTube server, so some people see the streams on PeerTube without being able to chat.

I think PeerTube has said they are working on integrating the chat add-on into the official release, so hopefully that happens soon 🙂

And you can also stream on many #PeerTube instances, with functionality only getting better, although the barrier to entry is a bit higher than OwnCast, of course.
PeerTube streaming is great, especially that you can have multiple streams on a single instance. Unfortunately it doesn't have chat officially included yet, so a lot of people see PeerTube streams without being able to chat.

There is the chat add-on but it's still not included as standard. I think PeerTube has said they are working on integrating the chat system into the official release though so hopefully that happens soon!
That's understandable - I can only speak from my personal experience, where I haven't seen an instance without the chat add-on enabled, but it's true, it's technically not the official standard and another important difference.
People streaming through OwnCast do a lot better in terms of being accessible to "other people" than it seems people streaming on PeerTube are able to.
@JigmeDatse
I think it's because OwnCast was designed specifically as a Twitch-style streaming and chat service, whereas PeerTube is meant more as a YouTube alternative.

But they are both good, and there are good streams on both services 🙂

The thing I found, was I can easily watch a stream on PeerTube (follow and have it show up on my local instance), but chat works poorly, unless you're on the instance. I'm not sure if there's a move toward sorting that out. They absolutely are both good. I don't stream myself, and for occasional streaming I think PeerTube is fine. It also can automatically produce a VoD.
@JigmeDatse
Yeah, the PeerTube chat isn't properly integrated yet as it isn't official, it's still technically an add-on. I think the developers are working with the add-on's maker to integrate it though.

OwnCast was designed with integrated chat from the beginning so it's more Twitch-like.
p.s. If you want to make sure you don't miss an OwnCast stream:

1. Follow the stream's account to see a post in your timeline when it goes live
2. After you've followed the stream, click the notification bell on the stream's profile page to also get a special notification when it posts (more info at https://fedi.tips/how-to-be-notified-when-someone-posts-on-mastodon)

Doing the notification bell thing is particularly useful for time-sensitive things like live streams 🙂
The bell is bugged on the Mastodon mobile app, unfortunately. It won't send push notifications to your phone. The Moshidon app, which is a fork of the official Mastodon app, supports this however. This is exactly why I'm on Moshidon.
As a workaround, you can click the bell while logged in on your server's website and it should work correctly.

Also, most people find the third party apps like Moshidon, Tusky, Fedilab etc are better than the official Mastodon app so it's probably worth switching to them anyway 🙂

EDIT: I've given a thumbs up for Vencabot's issue about this on the Mastodon official Android app's Github. If anyone else wants to do the same, the issue is at https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon-android/issues/955

I use the official app on my phone with some bell icon accounts and have no issues as far as I am aware
It's a pity there is no official #owncast app for android.
You can't chat on the official app, so it's maybe better to use the website anyway?
