The abandoned Pittsburgh Post-Gazatte building, which closed when production of the newspaper was cut back and shifted to the suburbs. Many workers lost their jobs in the process.

A row of blue lockers with stickers on them ranging from pro-union slogans to Steelers logos to pinups
A scarred white board hangs in the center of a wall covered with writing and newspaper clippings. Amidst the chaos there is also a phone and a clock.
A cluttered desk in front of a large tack board with photos and papers pinned to it. On the desk is a large red book, a computer, a phone, and a Rolodex among other items.
A corridor with an open door at the end. On the door there is a large calendar and photos of a party, a house, and a dog

Abandoned America hat dies geteilt

I bet you that HP printer still works!
it wouldn't surprise me. Back when they were still making products for consumers, not shareholders
It always amazes me just how much stuff is left behind in the abandoned places you’ve explored.
never fails to amaze me, too.
these are gorgeous and such interesting shots. Love it 😍
thanks so much! I like spots that show the people that inhabited a place. You don't always get that
I’m sure economic downturn is the cause of many abandoned buildings, another interesting one that’s for sure. Again it looks to be frozen in time, even though that time was too long ago. There’s a computer monitor on a desk.
this is a sad one. Journalism in America has really taken a beating.
In some cases they've done it to themselves, but this whole "fake news" thing does concern me because if someone finds real truth all the person would have to say is "fake news".
Thanks for these! I live in Pgh and some of my friends parents worked in that building in production. The job loss particularly impacted one friend's father very harshly.
thanks and I'm sorry to hear that. I hope he's found something else to sustain himself
the I spend it where I earn it sticker is especially telling given the story about this abandoned place.
the fact that this mentality was a part of America is fading quickly from view
it’s a different kind of abandonment.

See the large lever arch file on the right on the shelf?

The one with #KOCH in big letters on it?

Wondering what's in it.
#koch
I never noticed that, honestly. Now I wonder what it was, too
These are so sad
it's all sadness, really. All of it is incomprehensible loss.
Wow. I should pay that building a visit the next time I go home.
good luck! The interior is gone, I'm not sure what the state of it is now
Sad reminder we use to have locally owned Newspapers in our country. They have all been bought up by billionaire owned companies and are now propaganda rags.
sad but very true.
@jimlindstrom Wow, they left everything behind?!
they did. The floor of the newsroom was mostly cleared out but the part with the presses felt untouched
