I talk about history, that’s my purpose here. But we are also witnessing history. What is happening in the USA and in Europe, including in France, is troubling and reminds me a bit too much of my studies on the rise of Nazi Germany and the collapse of Western democracies in the 1920-30s.

Social media platforms are now politically deformed, so be it. Bluesky is definitely a harbour for progressive thinking and people promoting education, knowledge and justice. So is Mastodon. As for Meta, the company is clearly not doing the right thing but the community is still good, so we’ll see.

I am not judging people who maintain their X accounts, losing hundreds or thousands of followers, many of them good people, is no small decision. But I encourage you to do so nonetheless. Show these bullies that you can turn your back to them. Show them their irrelevancy towards history. #quitX
