It also looks like a bunch more deaths have occurred in the last few weeks in big cats (both in the wild and zoo animals) in the US, despite all the efforts zoos are no doubt taking to shield them. A lot of zoos seem to be closing down the aviaries to the public and especially outdoor bird exhibits of things like penguins which might become exposed to birds landing in their enclosures.

No idea how zoos are trying to shield their big cats from this thing, as these animals are often fed whole or partial raw carcasses from meat suppliers. That these animals are getting infected from their meat supply seems perfectly plausible.

If big cats in zoos fed meat from the same source as grocery store meat start getting bird flu, that will prove undercooked meat to be equally dangerous to humans.

Also note that the big and "big" cats all have low populations requiring large hunting ranges per cat. These small populations make them more vulnerable to being wiped out entirely.
