Maybe, all this tragedy in #LAfires has one silver lining:
rich people were hit.
Rich means influential in the USA.
Maybe, now they raise their voices loud enough so that the USA gets her act together and sufficiently acts on #ClimateChange .
Maybe now they realize that global heating not a slow-burning thing they can outrun by their financial means.
Maybe now they realize that they depend on functioning societies across all income groups and globally.

They describe the criteria for their estimate. And those sound pretty holistic.
Although still based on the official estimate for very low numbers of destroyed structures, 10k.
So the 150bn are likely to increase. Gruesome.

Meanwhile Trump is talking about cutting off FIRE AID to California.

If he gets even more extreme, he could attempt to have the FAA ground the water bombers that fight the fires by modifying the TFR's (Temporary Flight Restrictions) either so nobody is allowed to fly, or if he wants to look less authoritarian he could just remove the TFR's and encourage MAGA meatheads to saturate the airspace with drones.

If this sets all those Malibu Millionaires against Trump, maybe they will start using their money to make things difficult for him. There's lots of ways to make things difficult for a US President with a few tens of millions of dollars in the war chest!
