The most important political lesson of the last decade:

If you wait for reality to catch up with the paddlers of lies & misrepresentation, then you have ceded the ground to them; as slow as the processes of democracy are they're still faster than the time (in most cases) that it take reality to catch the liers out.

And when it does, they've a ready story of betrayal to ensure its not their fault things haven't worked out.

Until we figure out a better counter strategy we are lost!
