A Q. on political parallels:

Is the new Labour government now in the position that the Biden administration was in four years ago?

If so, having beaten a Right Govt. in the election, will the next four years see Labour buffeted by global events, losing contact with voters 'reality' & perceptions, while the Right gains further influence & support?

and if this plays out like the USA over the last four years, who will be the UK's Trump?

Farage? Badenoch?

Or can we swerve this fate?

The only people who can prevent this happening are the Labour government, and they have the same lacunae as the Dems, and the same levels of arrogant paternalism.
yes, its increasingly clear that a disconnect between Govt. & voters is no longer just an unhappy eventuality, but is becoming a key political issue.... not that it was ever that unimportant
It's a feature of managed democracy, not a bug. The sooner the wider populace realise that and start fighting back, the better.
nice term - 'managed democracy'... almost Orwellian?
Not my work of course. A good shorthand for the illusion of choice that our current voting systems give us.
