Why didn’t (or did) Science Fiction Predict the Smartphone?

I’m not sure why I wrote this really. It’s been a kind of an occasional distraction for me. I’m not much of a technical person, so this is mostly written from a consumerist view, from someone who has read and watched some science fiction.

He does but his messages are muddied. Bob Morton in Robocop is kind of a good character, yet he's involved with the whole Robocop project which is corporate ownership of an individual. There's no clear message of good and bad there.

And Starship Troopers is all over the place, with Nazi imagery and jingoism, yet we follow the story and success of an army troop.
