He just said it wrong as Lee-nux.
Yes, I always understood that Linus Torvalds pronounced his first name as 'Leenus'.

But, yes 'Tomato, tom8to', it really doesn't matter.
@LydiaConwell
I think I'm going to start pronouncing it Lorn-neex, just to annoy everyone.
TBH you will have annoyed some already by not saying GNU-linux unless you are only referring to the kernel or something ...or nothing ...or whatever...

I dont care, I just use it

Oh, and BTW, if you are in the mood for annoying people, please annoy #elon fans - its not a fucking sink, that's a basin the rancid muppet carried

looeeurrnicks imo
Yeah, that's a good way to pronounce it.
No, luv, YOU pronounce it as Lie-nux. As it's derived from Linus' name (no surprise), and Linus is definitely not pronounced Lie-nus, the correct pronounciation is, well, Linux, with Lin as in "pin".
Ignorance is no excuse, nor is arrogance.
It's actually pronounced Lee-nux.

Ignorance is no excuse!
So,suddenly it's "Leen-ux" not "Lie-nux"?
I don't see much problems with the longer pronounciation as "Leen" against the short "Lin" (depending on the particular accent)...
...but definitely not Lie-nux...

To admit being wrong is quite tough, eh?
