You get ppl who say things like: I don't think #Assange is evil, I just think he's a knobhead

And by that, it's a way of explaining away their apathy - which is apathy very convenient to established powers, who find the wikileaks of western war crimes just a little bit too inconvenient

Basically, it's people self identifying as dupes

You don't have to like Assange personally. No one is forcing you to go for a drink with him. But you should be appalled and suspicious of how he has been treated
He's less of a knobhead than all those knobheads to fitted him up, reported lies about him, abandoned him, and imprisoned him for doing journalism.

Less of a knobhead than the knobheads doing the warcrimes he reported, the reporting of which caused the knobheads of state to do all that.
Yup. But I've seen that sort of dismissive take a few times -- even Ash Sarkar from Novara was like that.

But it's like they're judging him on their gut feeling rather than the more solid claims reported. And that's how propaganda works sometimes, encourages people to 'feel' an aversion to something without giving reasons.
People don't wanna admit they were suckered by intel-op sexcrimes propaganda I suspect. Leaves a distaste they need to explain with personal feelings.
