A poem for the last weeks...

November
Give me now the flowers of summer
Not these sodden rains and chills
Dusky cosmos, Texas bluebell
No more sodding ‘lectric bills
Give me now the scent of fresh-June
Not this grey-dank buggery
Clean-cut green hay, sweet-sharp berry
No more sniffing whinery
Give me now sweet sounds of July
Not this cut-price winter show
Waking chorus, sleepy pigeon
No more half arsed melty snow

Give me now the heat of August
Not these fluey aches and strains
Bumble bee-buzz, hover-fly drone
No more shitty low-grade pains
Give me back forgotten summer
Not this bloody purgat’ry
Epic mountain, wild sweet heather
No more Blighty misery
