To all of my friends who are worried and upset that Trump and the Republicans might end up being in control, all I can say is that we've been here before.

We've seen this shitty movie, and though the sequel might be even worse we just have to stick together, fight for our shared values, stand up to fascism and survive to resist another day.

We can't and shouldn't compromise on basic values and human rights, especially not in the name of the fucking price of gasoline.

I feel that we just have to live our lives however we can until the next opportunity to vote, should we have one.

I know #anxiety well, and it comes from worrying about unactionable shit that is totally out of our control. The next 2 years are in the hands of our elected officials and their appointees now. I can't obsess over it like I have over the last 8 years.

So stay calm/strong/focused/determined, never stop being yourself, keep your eyes open, and get your ass ready to #vote next time.

We won't give up the fight for democracy.

We won't give up the fight for equal human rights for all people.

We won't give up the fight to protect our environment.

We won't give up our fight for justice.

We will live to fight another day and we aren't going to let authoritarian fascist bigots and morons walk all over our lives and dreams. I'm damn sure of that.

We have the right to self-definition and self-determination; so don't even think about giving up.

But for those of us who cared enough to give a damn, to vote, and to otherwise commit our energy to trying to achieve the future that we deserve, give yourselves a break from the infinite political media circus.

We did our part in this. I did what little I could do, and you hopefully did too. And, other than staying generally informed and aware, that's all we can do. That's our one role.

So now we just survive and try our best to live as we please until our next chance.

It's not going to be easy... but I'm going to do my best not to spend the next 4 years endlessly distracted by the stale hourly reruns of the Trump Show. Always outraged/entertained by Nero fiddling while Rome burns.

It's absurd, it's stupid, it's boring, it's bad for our collective mental health and it's a waste of what little time we have on this Earth. Trump is noise.

I'll keep an ear out and stay informed for the next vote, and that's about it. Hand me another ballot in 2 years.

We can hold their feet to the fire, and we can protect each other from their bullshit attempts to oppress and divide.

We've got work to do, but as of polls closing, our work here is done for now.
