From the Red. Channel at Telegram:
"Millions are currently in the streets of #Istanbul, with #Türkiye seeing the fiercest anti-government #protests in over a decade."

And they're headed for Taksim Square right now amid massive police presence tear gas and water cannons

(Sorry about the large file size but mastodon is rejecting smaller files/less resolution as failing validation contents aren't as claimed or some bs) #Turkey #Erdogan is done. Stick a fork in him
The only way #Turkey has been able to transfer power to a new administration, some poeple get killed, 100s in prison getting tortured, and when all hopes for change have risen they take another dive into conservative militarist semi-dictatorship.

There is usually some military and religious intervention to transfer power as well, it is like a slide show of democratic static images.

Power must be really sweet in #Turkey

@heretical_i
Religious intervention? 🤣 Just saw a pic of a greek othodox priest with a gas mask getting pepper sprayed from a bottle thesize of a fire extinguisher. Turkey's islam is sufi and not really politically attached like muslim bro islamists afaict...
The political heads seemed to always had to balance being in good terms with military oligarchy and religious one. Neither can get too pissed off at any time. Erdho used its fake US staged coup to terrorize the military enough to screen out any enemies. To do so he had to feed the clergy and the nationalist (gray wolves) with some anti-Greek anti-Orthodox candy. There is also the dreaded economic elite which make Trump look like a waiter.

@heretical_i
Economic inequality gaps in Turkey are very hard to comprehend. Millions are barely surviving while they serve and obey their masters as if they were gods themselves.
Turkey is like two countries, Istanbul and the rest of it.
You will not see this protest spill over to other towns. If you were to exclude Istanbul from elections Erdhoghan would win with a landslide victory.

@heretical_i
It's happening in a number of towns across Turkey, but I AM AWARE that the interests of urban people and rural are dramatically different. That's true of the US and every so-called Developed nation. In the US six or so large urban areas are the deciding factor as to whose elected prezident, and it's an ongoing source of tension.
