that is not a thing in mastodon, by definition, you need an algorithm to shadow-ban. There might be federation issues, happens sometimes, but most of the time people just didn't see or care

Hmm. What makes you so sure?

I respectfully disagree. Call it "limiting" if you like. People's posts & accounts can be hidden (eg, from some users) on very debateable grounds.
