People in photos, including children, sifting through ash, bare handed and unmasked, is alarming. Please, if you know someone who lost a house, remind them that the ash and air are toxic.

Please wear work gloves, masks and goggles. Limit your time on site. Clean thoroughly anything you recover. Don't bring children with you. Don't bring ash-covered clothing inside.

Many nasty chemicals are released when non organic material burns.
