Anyone travelled by train from Algeria to Tunisia and how was it? I hear the borders opened again in 2024 and curious about that route from Annaba to Tunis. My own foreign ministry strongly advices against crossing that border, but I want to take that with a grain of salt and would like to hear some experiences. #CrossBorderRail #Algeria #Tunisia
I did it on a bus two years ago. It is probably safe, a train robbery/attack would catch international papers, so I don't think they'd do it unless they're confident it is safe. But make sure you don't miss the coast section between Béjaïa and Skikda! It is spectacular!
Good to know! I was considering the night train between Algier and Annaba, so then I would sleep right through that coast section.
seat 61 has a section on it I think. We're going to just do Tunisia this time, didn't get our shit together for Algerian passport in time
Yes, I was looking at his overview (as I always do, it's my favorite place to explore train routes!). He suggested the night train to Tunisia and I didn't find alternatives with train. Can you point any out? @matsh.bsky.social
no, will be our first time, and gave up looking into it when we realized we wouldn't be going

(Aside: did Andreas get in touch with you regarding your translation efforts yet?)
