TIL about Mare Moscovrae, a lunar mare meaning "Sea of Moscow". Such maria were named after mental states or words for water in that era, but despite this tradition, the IAU accepted the name. At the meeting, French astronomer Audouin Dollfus said "Moscow is, in fact, a state of mind".
