TIL that in early 20th century America, ice-sitting challenges were all the rage. In 1900, Benton Harbor included an ice-sitting event in its July Fourth celebration. In 1926, three men sat on a block of ice for 30 minutes each to win a $30 prize at a community picnic in Ohio.
