TIL in 1998 ASEAN Championship, both Indonesia and Thailand wanted to deliberately lose their match so that they finish 2nd in their group and face "weaker" Singapore in the Semi-Final. Ironically, both of them got eliminated in the Semi-Finals and Singapore won the whole thing in the end.
