TIL on Nov 5, 1872, when American women couldn't vote, Susan B. Anthony voted. She and the election workers refused to pay fines. The judge didn't jail Anthony, which prevented her from taking the case to the Supreme Court, but the workers were jailed (later pardoned by President Ulysses Grant)
