TIL that in 1969, Honduras and El Salvador, who already had extreme tension, faced off in the 1970 FIFA qualifier. Game 1, won by Honduras, led to Salvadoran rioting, and Game 2, won by El Salvador, led to Honduran riots. After border skirmishes, this led to a four-day war known as the Football War.
