TIL: In the 18th century, a British sailor named Thomas Doughty was shipwrecked on a remote South Pacific Island. After years of solitude, he was rescued by a Spanish galleon. The captain, believing Doughty to be a ghost, chained him to the mast and paraded through the streets of Lima upon return.
