Is there a type of scene you could never write?

The joy of reading is to be able to use our imagination, to conjure up our own interpretation of what is happening. I don’t see the point of explicit sex writing. It cheats the reader in my opinion.
I don't normally write sex scenes, but they can be necessary to tell a story, it just depends on the story - the way people interact during sex is part of their relationship and part of their personality. And what happens during sex could be relevant to a plot. I think this is definitely true of the book Normal People by Sally Rooney - not the TV version though. They didn't get the sex right in that at all and just turned it into porn.
(not that I think there's anything wrong with porn necessarily.)
Yes, I have some fairly explicit (soft-focus) sex in my current series because it makes NO sense for these two people to be so into each other without it.

They both have reasons for not expressing vulnerability at many other times. It's a connection they only share with each other.

The sex is not always sexy. It's frequently awkward, and confusing, and strange. It IS always deeply intimate.
I feel like this "blah we all know what sex is like!" POV skips right over late bloomers, demis, gray aces, etc.

Personally in my real life I would not, could not have sex with just anyone.

My characters are in their 30s and 40s, and exploring something new to them. It is not a straightforward "then they banged, on to the next scene!"
one of my books is about a sex addict who is also aromantic. Some of his relationships (as in relationship between two people who know each other, not romantic relationship) only involve sex. But I certainly get the thing where people put in sex scenes that are completely irrelevant to the story - just to, I don't know, prove they can make the reader horny?
