In the hospital for cardiac testing & there’s a mask mandate in place.

My chart says I’m high risk.

Tech comes in with mask under her nose.

Me: “Can you please pull up your mask I’m immune compromised.”

Her: Big sigh, pulls it up “You’ve got some serious Covid anxiety eh?”

Me: “not anxiety, I’m being rational. Colds have put me in the hospital.”

Her: Another big sigh

As I’m leaving I say: “It seems really quiet here today.”

Her: “Yeah half the staff are out sick. You’re actually lucky they didn’t cancel your appointment.”

Me: Internal shrieking

You read about a century ago when doctors had to be convinced that they needed to wash their hands and that doing so could prevent the spread of infection. We're living in that time again. It's all so stupid and the infuriating thing is that it's coming from people who should know better.

But how could these hands be dirty... they're healing hands. The ego. :blobcat_thisisfine:
They DO wash their hands, but they are exhaling germs all over their patients. @broadwaybabyto
Entering a room of fifty people as the only masked person. Many look at you in shock. “Are you contagious?!” 🤷🏻‍♂️
I went to the hospital yesterday for an iron infusion. The infusion center includes patients receiving immune suppressants for treatment of autoimmune diseases, and cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. I was masked as always, and I saw only one staff member masked, and only one other patient (and their family member) wearing masks!

*screaming* This is so infuriating and mindboggling! These are fluffing HEALTH PROFESSIONALS! They're supposed to be at the bleeding edge of precautions, but instead, they're in deep denial and fighting tooth and claw if anyone tries to show them the truth. I hate everything about this.

❤️❤️❤️ I hope your cardiac stuff goes well!
So sorry you have to endure this. 🤗

Though I experience it regularly too, so I know what it feels like. (It amazes me how few wear masks at the Oncology clinics.)

On other occasions, I'm always surprised at those who try to insist I "have a coffee". Why yes, I'll wear a mask to avoid infection, but if there's COFFEE... Well, mask be damned!

Sometimes they're pressing out of habit, but basically, people are weird! (And very stupid.)

Go well.
I'm allergic to coffee. It's amazing how people cannot process the phrase, "No thank you, I don't want any coffee". And they definitely can't process, "I'm fine. I'm allergic to coffee anyways".

"We have decaf!"

"It's still coffee."
I seriously wonder why some folk have ears. They seem to just be appendages to wear studs on. @TalktoBeverley @broadwaybabyto
It is amazing! It just shows how most people live in their own little bubble of 'normal' and assume theirs must apply to everyone. So many people just don't listen, much less process what's said.

I LOVE coffee, though I was definitely a tea girl before I had a child. Went off both during pregnancy and now almost drink nothing else but coffee.

My daughter on the other hand, cannot take any amount of caffeine. It sends her loopy.

Take care.
