Ottawa doesn't break down these new hospitalizations by age unfortunately but infants <1 have the highest ICU admission rates and almost 3x higher hospitalization rates than adults 60-69 since the end of August in Alberta where they are still reporting age groups. 2/

You can really see the relative difference between child age groups here and this explains why when they group 0-4 together instead of splitting out the infants <1 it hides just how much the youngest age group is impacted compared to other children. 3/

Back to Ottawa, you can see respiratory related ED visits for kids have been ramping up steadily since the start of school. As usual, our youngest kids are most impacted, kids age 0-11 make up only 11% of the population in Ottawa but this age group represents 47% of all ED respiratory related visits last week.
