The Mastodon #fediblock wars are brewing. Some instances (e.g. universeodon.com) added full text search of all toots, including from users on other instances, where there's no official framework for it (or user safety).

[update: it sounds like the search respects the profile discoverability opt-out, which federates, unlike the "search engine indexing" thing which does not? That's much less bad than we thought. It should still be opt-IN, though, not opt-out.

currently any server running universeodon's full text patches are breaking AGPL too, for example universeodon claims to be running stock mastodon when they are not

AGPL specifies that's not enough, you have to link to the source of the fork you are running from your server. Other servers running custom forks do this.
