Breaking news: A ceasefire deal has been reportedly reached between Israel and Lebanon. The ceasefire goes into effect about 5 hours from now.

In the hours leading up to the announcement Israel continued to bomb central Beirut, striking multiple residential blocks in each strike.

Even during Netanyahu's ceasefire speech the IDF continued killing children and innocent civilians in Beruit.

Only time will tell if the strikes stop.

To be clear, this ceasefire is exclusively between Lebanon and Israel. There has been no reduction of Israeli operations in Gaza or Lebanon so far.

It will begin at 4am local time and does not include any terms Lebanon hadn't offered from day one. Al Jazeera reports that this ceasefire deal is largely identical to UN resolution 1701.

Agreement with UN Resolution 1701 requires Israel to remove forces from southern Lebanon, stop air strikes and stop interfering with UN peace keepers.

It also requires Lebanon to continue working to disarm Hezbollah and at least to not cede military control to the group.

So far Iran seems to be significantly reducing their recent saber rattling. Imo, Iran's threat to strike Israel again was a huge part of why this deal is happening.

The resolution called for Israel and Lebanon to support a permanent ceasefire and a long-term solution based on the following principles and elements:

full implementation of the relevant provisions of the Taif Accords and of resolutions 1559 (2004) and 1680 (2006), requiring the disarmament of all armed groups in Lebanon, so there will be no weapons or authority in country other than that of the Lebanese State

no foreign forces in Lebanon without the Government’s consent

no sales or supply of arms and related materiel to Lebanon except as authorised by its Government

provision to the UN of all remaining maps of landmines in Lebanon in Israel’s possession

full respect by both parties for the Blue Line and security arrangements to prevent the resumption of hostilities, including an area free of any armed personnel, assets and weapons other than those of the Lebanese authorities and UNIFIL between the Blue Line and the Litani River

The ceasefire has been in effect for about 5 hours and there's already many reports of people immediately returning home throughout southern Lebanon. Meanwhile the Israelis say they will not immediately return settlers to northern occupied Palestine due to ongoing tensions and general Israeli disappointment in the final agreement.

Despite most fighting ending on time the IOF has reportedly already breached the ceasefire by firing artillery towards returning Lebanese civilians a few hours in.
News paper clipping from Al Mayadeen:

Al Mayadeen's correspondent from the outskirts of the western neighborhood in Khiam, South Lebanon: The occupation aimed to scare the displaced citizens returning home not giving the bombing any consideration.

Especially with Trump coming to power soon and a timeline of only 60 days for the ceasefire it's very possible this is only a temporary truce. None the less many Labenese civilians returning home are over joyed. Reporters are crying on air, civilians are posing with photos of Hassan Nasrallah and scores are flocking back to bombed out neighborhoods and towns to begin salvaging what they can.

This is unmistakable, Hezbollah successfully halted the IOF invasion and laid down their lives for Gaza.

The Israeli's meanwhile are irate with the ceasefire. Prominent settlement mayors say the uncertainty of the ceasefire is untenable, they insist on the total defeat of Hezbollah as a condition of returning citizens. This flies in the face of reality.

In the last few days of fighting Hezbollah matched the IOFs increase in intensity firing over 200 rockets this week alone, destroying 60+ tanks valued at $3M each and even striking the homes of key IOF leaders in Tel Aviv.

There are increasing reports of IOF forces still lurking in some Labenese border towns including IOF tanks still driving around towns presumably preparing to withdraw the last of their forces.

In an Al Jazeera report released this morning IOF forces who have yet to fully withdraw in Khiam can be heard firing their guns to try and scare civilians from returning to the town. The IOF seem caught of gaurd by how rapidly and fearlessly civilians returned home.

Reporter Marwa Osman gives another first hand account(this one in English) of her experiences returning to the town of Khiam.

She wasn't able to get to her home but posted on her socials that she will try again in a few days. By the time she arrived the Lebanese army showed up to keep civilians from getting too close to the IOF army whose still there.

A few civilians were able to make it home to Khiam prior to the Labenese army blocking the route into the town. They have been uploading tons of images of the destruction complete with IOF tanks lurking and aiming their main guns at them. Serious balls of steel material.

Enough of the tension news, people are just plain happy for a moment and this is absolutely something to celebrate. There's countless stories popping up of Hezbollah fighters who were feared dead, being found alive & well when their families' returned home.

People are posting the apologetic notes resistance fighters left after using other people's home for shelter or food during the fighting.

This genocide will continue but it's important to soak up this joy.

Palestinians in the Gaza strip say this is a moment for celebration and they are relieved to have had the support of the Lebanese people and the resistance.

Hamas also put out a statement to the same effect. The genocide is not over, the conflict may still yet widen but for now there will hopefully be a reduction in civilian deaths in Lebanon.

If the Palestinians the Lebanese and the resistance are happy, I'm happy!

And like I said earlier, the Israeli populace seems extremely displeased with this temporary ceasefire. The zionist settlers who were driven out of occupied Northern Palestine refuse to return and those who stayed are livid that Hezbollah still exists.

Sucks to suck I guess 🤷🏿

Aside from the relief & joy there's a ton of interesting strategic questions about how Israel can meet their citizens demands after such an abject failure on the ground in Southern Lebanon.

Presently there's murmurs in OSINT circles that Israel has stepped up support for terrorist groups in Syria in an attempt to prevent the Assad regime's alleged history of arms sales to Hezbollah.

Israel needs a way to degrade the resistance without another full blown border war.

It would seem to me that any faction in Syria accepting aid from Israel risks losing much of their public support if they get caught.
But these alleged zionist activities in Syria, continued aggression towards returning civilians in Lebanon and ongoing genocide in Palestine may not go unpunished. Iran continues to sabor rattle and threatens that they remain ready to carry out a third direct strike on Israel.

Iranian ambassadors say they will factor in the Lebanon ceasefire deal meanwhile prominent politicians like Iran's Parliament speaker say they will strike due to prior Israeli transgressions regardless of the deal.

Of course Israel continues to suffer from the economically devastating Yemeni blockade of their ports which the US and western powers have been completely unable to effectively counter. The resistance in Gaza has NEVER slowed down with posting videos of destroying $3M Merkava tanks and maming their crews.

The reality for Israeli politicians is that we all have fucking eyes and can see this genocide tho terrible is not without unbearable costs for the Israeli populace.

So with all of this in mind the last question is does Israel even have soldiers left who want to die for Zionism?

All signs point to no. Israel has continued to suffer from soldiers going AWOL evidenced by elite soldiers on social media complaining that their special forces units were unable to deploy to Lebanon a week ago bc too many soldiers failed to show up for duty.
In an article from last month Israeli veterans penned a open letter clearly stating they would re-enlist if the mission were focused solely on strategies which could free the POWs captured by Hamas. They directly state they are unhappy with civilian deaths and will not fight again for an army participating in a genocide.

The IOF military elite have been saying for weeks that they need more soldiers asap.

So yea, this ceasefire is a victory for the resistance.

In April 2023 a former head of the Mossad (Israeli CIA equivalent) gave an interview where he mentioned Israel had agreements to provide medical aid to ISIS and Al Qaeda aligned factions in Syria.

These previous admissions of support for Al Qaeda make the reports of fierce clashes in Syria this week are a key part of why OSINT watchers believe Israel has continued interests in supporting these terrorist groups.

Israel appears to be acting in serious violation of the Lebanon ceasefire deal already. Most notably by striking an alleged Hezbollah weapons depot over 50km from the border. There's also allegations that IOF soldiers shot two journalists, blew up a car with people in it and arrested 4 Lebanese civilians the IOF claims have ties to Hezbollah. All actions which if true would appear to be violations of the ceasefire deal.

Meanwhile in #Syria the offensive by anti-Assad factions is drawing a significant response from the regime.

Syria is a very complex conflict to follow as a non native speaker, there's more proxies on all sides than I can shake a toot at. So I'm definitely not the best person to write about that conflict.

BUT a thing thats odd is that a few videos from the rebels seem to have guys milling around with obvious ISIS patches like below or in others they have what looks like an obscured ISIS flag.

There's been reportedly over 100 ceasefire violations committed by Israel since last week. It's hard enough to ignore that CNN has accurate and timely reporting on the topic.

Hezbollah is stronger than they are. They are hoping to stay out of rocket range but that won't work. Why did Hezbollah agree to pull back from the border? Probably because they no longer have to fire from the border to hit enemy targets within Occupied Palestine.

When Hezbollah is able to hit any target in Occupied Palestine from anywhere in Lebanon, they won't NEED those border area positions.
For an American audience, the end of this stage of the war can be envisioned by imagining cheering townsfolk surrounding a bunch of knocked-out IOF tanks and bulldozers with "Wolverines!"(as in Red Dawn) painted on them.
