Fascist technoligarch models his self-driving* vehicles after iRobot, a movie where the protagonist needed a dumb motorcycle to move about the city safely due to dictatorial AI. Technoligarch is also developing AI* and trying to replace government with it.

His car kills insider Angela Chao by backing itself into a lake and locking the doors. Figurehead for the so-called "butterfly revolution" Trump declares anyone protesting or damaging Tesla vehicles chargers or dealerships terrorists.
Tesla's aren't allowed on Chinese military bases. We don't allow Huawei 5g hardware near our military bases, and have banned the import of Chinese vehicles. Supply chain competition have escalated into prominent physical attacks.

Everyone on Mastodon hates "Smart" devices. They see their power being stripped away. Feel technofeudalism taking shape around them.
Do they mean that any Tesla can be a potential spy-gadget their owners know nothing about? If #android is the center of this spy-engine, why is Tesla in specific the target and not any vehicle using it?

@cykonot

How do you de-google a tesla?
parts of the tesla and apple supply chain are in China. Maybe they've seen dirty boards or chips in some. Same for our bans

The US has admitted to adding hardware to boards before, and we've had multiple die shrinks since then. Adding some circuitry on some chips is feasible. Or it could be another component on the board like we've admitted to, but on-chip would be cooler

Edit: software hacking is cheaper but less cool. The hardware hack I'm thinking of was 100,000 or so Asus boards

I can only warranty a 70s Briggs & Stratton (per elec,ignition) engine I have that is not jeopardized by US agency spyware. For everything else I can't be sure of.

Even those that think they can read the codes of a simple chip, only think they can read all of it.
