It goes without saying that being deliberately, personally, deadnamed by someone is an act of malicious intent, but here that's not what i'm asking about.

As you go about your lives, consuming media, reading novels, seeing films / shows, does encountering a major character with your deadname affect you?

I transitioned twenty'ish years ago, yet encountering my deadname that way still causes me substantial distress. When it's a minor, incidental, temporary character, i can grin & bear it, knowing that it'll be over soon. Otoh, if it's a major character, present continually or otherwise frequently recurring, it affects me so much that i abandon the film / book.

Is that odd? What is it like for you? 🤷‍♀️
