Read this and the only thing I noticed was that they have an upper age limit for voting. Perhaps Australia could do the same, with only citizens from 18 to 80 able to vote? I'm sure Tony Abbott would be first to acclaim such a religiously compatible measure?

I think voting should be voluntary if you are over 80. #auspol

I'm more a fan of everyone being allowed to vote, and in fact having a right to vote. But sure, let's make voting optional for the under-18's and over-80's

But since we have arbitrary age restrictions that we apparently can't get rid of, let's at least make them symmetric. The arguments for an upper limit are IMO at least as good as a for a lower one.
