The Australian Labor party is primarily there to protect the interests of the mining industry, after that, they protect other industries. At the very bottom of their priority list is the need to stand out from the Liberal party, so they occasionally throw the voters a bone.

People *really* need to start preferencing Labor as low as possible (while still being above the Liberals). We do not have a plurality voting system, don't vote strategically, put the Greens above Labor.
