Gina Rinehart is a malignant tumour on Australia's political system and its economy.

Also, hates this portrait.

'Gina', portrait by celebrated First Nations artist and Archibald Prize winner Vincent Namatjira of 70-year-old mining magnate Gina Rinehart, described as a 'bold caricature.'

Rinehart exerts undue influence over Australia's political system via her creature, the National Party. The Nationals are funded directly and its parliamentarians indirectly via various post-politics roles and positions, to act in the interests of Australia's mining sector.

It is the party for mining - not farmers, not rural and regional communities -mining, evidenced by the consistent promotion of policies that massively benefit Rinehart herself.

Those policies will now include a swag of US-inspired measures such as slashing the public service and corporate tax rates, and placing oligarchs much closer to government where they can step out from behind the curtain and control the parliament and the nation directly.

you just have to look at Barnaby's own electorate where Liverpool Plains farmers have been fighting mining and gas pipelines through their land for years.
"So... Earthlings... I present you with a simple choice. Either die in the vacuum of space or... tell me how good you thought my poem was."

A still from the feature film adaptation of The Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy. A large, gnarled green alien wearing a tattered suit looms over two humans lashed to concrete slabs. The alien is holding a vintage microphone.
