So what are the solutions then, well it is pretty obvious to me, education, guidance.

Yes that means you have to spend time & effort to do things that, lets be honest here, you should be doing as a parent anyway.

If you're not prepared to do that, or don't give a stuff anyway, don't blame anyone else except yourself, for one, having kids in the first place, not being responsible for what you have done.

So yes, it does appear to me as if there a hell lot of bad parents out there, looking for someone else to blame for their own inadequacies.

Disclaimer: I am not a parent, not by choice, just the way the cookie crumbled, some might then say, how would I know, well, I have a brain, and I AM abstracted from the situation so I can analyze what is happening without bias, and this is what I see, however unflattering that may be, and is not what you may want to hear, but constructive criticism rarely is.

Instead what will happen is obvious too, those who want to find a way around will do that, parents will also then have a scapegoat to blame for this - the government (yes you did put your foot in it), the government will then try to blame some random implementer (contractors beware the poison pill), lots of pointing fingers.

A virtual (in more ways than one) shit storm, when all of it, all of it, could have been resolved by spending more time with your kids, maybe you should do that anyway.

Edit: Just to ram it home, think about the lessons you are teaching your kids, "set it on auto-pilot", "your morals are what somebody else enforces upon you", and so on, I know my parents never taught me that, and I highly doubt your parents did either for the most part.

This one's for the government, respect and how much you've all been going on about that lately, do you honestly think that depriving kids of knowledge and social experiences is a form of respect, or disrespect (devaluing their input in society)?
