Pete Hegseth, Christian nationalist and far-Right Fox News pundit, calls the Left “America’s domestic enemies” and refuses to answer when asked if he would use the military to shoot protesters.

If you took part in a protest over the last 10 years or are involved in grassroots organizing, bureaucrats like Hegseth see you as enemy #1.

If even ONE of us gets shot by his troops there will be sheer hell to pay.
Also recall there WAS some heavy retribution for that. The Weather Underground blew up the National Guard Association of the United States headquarters in DC on May 10, 1970. This was during a period in which the FBI estimated about 5,000 bombs went off in the US (probably including all known molotov cocktails). Nobody knows how many bombings and fires in the second half of 1970 were people's private reprisals for Kent State.

In 1971, the Pentagon predicted civil war "within 15 years" if the US didn't get the fuck out of Vietnam. Another study stated "a prerequisite for the re-establishment of the United States Army is extrication from Vietnam." Two years later US ground troops were OUT and the draft was history and has never been back. Four years later North Vietnam won the war outright, the US and its allies ignominiously fleeing in helicopters from the roof of the US Embassy in Saigon (no Ho Chi Minh City).

More recently, Atlanta and APD were punished with tens of millions of dollars in fire damage after the Georgia State Police murdered Tortuguita. Also note that in the second week of action after that murder on March 5 2023, our best fighters were able to march on the Cop City construction staging area and wipe it out. They drove off the cops under a blizzard of fireworks. Then they stormed the site and proceeded to burn everything in it to cinders.

Either exchange of fire today would be far more likely to trigger open ended escalation than in 1970 or even 2022.
