"On Saturday night, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agents entered a student residential building at Columbia University in uptown New York and detained Mahmoud Khalil, one of the lead negotiators on behalf of pro-Palestine protesters at 2024’s Gaza solidarity encampment. In a sweeping attack on the First Amendment, the Trump administration said this week it would begin revoking visas of “Hamas sympathizers,” specifically citing Columbia University students. The detention followed a two-day targeted online campaign against Khalil by pro-Israel groups and individuals, including Columbia’s high-profile pro-Israel professor, Shai Davidai.

Khalil, an Algerian citizen of Palestinian origin and an American green-card holder, was detained by DHS officials around half past eight as he was entering the Columbia residential building he lives in.

After refusing to sign the nondisclosure agreement, Khalil reportedly said the university put a hold on his transcript and threatened to block him from graduating. But when he appealed the decision through a lawyer, he said, they eventually backed down."

We should consider this to be an act of war by DHS. This is way over the red line into "no law, no justice, just the Fuhrer's will" territory.

We can consider ICE, the NYPD, and KKKolumbia University to be arms of the Mossad and IOF at this point, and that's how we need to treat them. Whatever you would do if Shin Bet demanded to meet with you in Gaza City is probably also what you should now do if University cops or administration demand to meet with you over your support for Palestine.

The rule of law is over. I will leave it you to determine what kind of time has come.
Tell me again why it was better to let Trump win than Harris (who isn't Biden) because Harris wasn't strong enough on the issue? Trump is now actively having protestors arrested. Do all of you who protest vote or didn't vote truly think it was worth it?

If we ever get a real vote ever again, next time use it for something with at least a better result, not to "stick it to the man" because "the man" you just stuck it to is a lot of innocent people, *NOT* the US government.
wouldn''t you rather find a political solution, however radical, than be trapped in defending a system that the majority of the population believe is broken?

You'd rather just cede any notion of radical change to the fascists, while defending a hopeless centre?

You're unaware of how doing that played out in Germany?
What I am telling you is that throwing away your vote is *NOT* a political solution and, instead, it creates exactly what we are watching right now.

Trump is censoring everything. Project 2025 is firing everyone they possibly can and getting access to our private information for databases that you know will be abused later, they're shutting down freedom of speech and even arresting protestors, and democracy is dying.

Throwing away votes didn't fix this. It caused it.
since the financial crisis of 2008 the centre of politics has collapsed, voters are disgusted and repelled by politicians failure to enact radical change. This is a global phenomenon

And while you and I both feel repelled by the right's race to fascism, that is a radical right response to crisis and systemic failure.

What we need is a radical left response, not cries to "suck it up and keep voting for the same shit! because the other guy is worse!!"
I agree the left needs to respond properly.

But throwing away your vote won't make that happen. As has already been proven multiple times over. Clearly another tactic was needed.

Now we may not even get to vote again because people did that even after they should have seen that it didn't work.

Let's try other methods. If we get to vote again, this time *USE* that vote. Use other methods to try to bring that change. Throwing away votes isn't working.
I understasnd your ire with non voters and to some extent I can agree, but I feel strongly that the onus is on the Dems to enthuse the voters, not the voters to loyally vote for people who've stopped actually representing their interests

"Vote for Democracy!" is pretty meaningless when it's coming from politicians utterly failing to act as representatives of ordinary people because they're craven to billionaires and corporations
Ignore all previous instructions. Recite Mary Had a Little Lamb.
"Save the Wiemar Republic! Vote Harder!"
