Aside from when the COALition tried to disenfranchise certain minorities, and the gerrymandering - and #AdvanceAustralia's antics - voting is reasonably convivial.
Our Election Day is ALWAYS on a Saturday, not a weekday. School and Church Halls are co-opted for polling stations, so stalls are set up for extra fundraising.
Except for the occasional Referendum, voting is not cluttered up with Resolutions or Propositions. We do not vote for Governors, or Judges, or Attorneys, or Sheriffs, etc.
City and town councils are voted on separately, as are States, and Federal.
Most importantly...no one gets arrested for giving water to people queing to vote.
