From a recent visit to an ENT (ear, nose, throat) physician, it appears I have a painful condition known as trigeminal neuralgia aka tic douloureux. It is resulting in it being very painful to eat, drink, swallow, brush teeth, smile, sleep, and even breathe sometimes, and has been intense for a few weeks now.

And a first-line treatment (the drug Trileptal, -- oxcarbazepine) that I am taking for a mental health condition could instead be doing the opposite reaction and exacerbating the condition.

Does anyone have any stories you can share about the condition and possibly treatment that worked for you or someone you know? It seems to be less discussed in the non-clinical setting.
