Arguably, the most damaging new war by Musk & the broligarchy is against the very notion of "empathy".

Musk, et al. frame empathy as a "trait to be eradicated in a quest for some kind of evolutionary advancement.... Empathy needs to be excised for civilization to progress."

The truth is that fascists are afraid of empathy. With good reason.

I take your point. Important to know, though, that psychopathy isn't a mental illness. Mental illness can be curable. Not so an actual brain structure.

Well, I meant severe mental instability without knowing about possible causes for this condition. He should probably be institutionalized for his own and everybody else's sake.

Yes, the point is the lack of empathy &, thereby, conscience.

Not all people with the disorder do harm, but Trump, Musk, Bezos, Zuck, Thiel, et al. clearly are doing existential harm to the rest of us.

PS The term "Instability" doesn't fit, as the brain disorder is totally "stable".

I guess you're the expert. The erratic behavior of Musk and Trump makes them appear unstable to me.

Yes, I think I get what you're saying. These terms have different meanings in different contexts.

Yes, impulsive-wise they could be called "unstable". But that kind of instability is relatively minor compared to their capacity to inflict serious harm through cruelty, criminality, etc.

I think I was simply referring to the erratic behavior that Trump has been displaying like calling Zelenskyy a dictator one day and 'not remembering' having said that later. The root cause of that behavior is less important to me than the question of how to stop the #fascist bastards and putting them away for good.

Yes - but ignoring the constitution and judge's rulings are offenses serious enough to talk about impeachment. Removing and detaining them will be what counts in order to save democracy.

without empathy, what happens to medical research? It only gets applied to the problems of the people in power because only they can afford it. Think of all the advances that wouldn't exist.
