Hello, Fediverse! Here’s our official #Introduction! 📢
EPFL is now on Mastodon with its very own instance: social.epfl.ch. We're excited to welcome you to this new space to discuss research, education, and innovation.
See you soon on #Mastodon! #EPFL 🚀

Can we say Fediverse?
Mastodon is just one of many frontends to the Fediverse network.
Because if, you are ‘with’ Mastodon in Fediverse but not on 😉
Have fun and a great exchange here in the network

Greetings with #Calckey
let's do this one step at a time :) It took us 2 years (or more, if you count @gnugen 's efforts...) to get here.

So for the Fediverse <-> Mastodon, I'm happy that we have Mastodon!

(GNU) Linux anyone?
Even if you are new to mastodon, you should know that mastodon is only one of many accesses and that the access (the software) also determines what you can or cannot do.
Above all, you should know that the range of functions is there, just not everything with Mastodon.

That's exactly what we old people always say.
first determine your own needs and requirements
then choose the software.

What good is it that you use mastodon and have to pack your texts into thread chains if there is suitable software for this in the fediverse?

The same applies to Linux, I look at what I need and choose the right distro for it

@gnugen

I think you might want to reconsider your way of approaching people on the fediverse. Mansplaining like you do here is not friendly, even if you think you have good intentions. Just because this Mastodon instance is new does not mean everyone here is new to Mastodon and the Fediverse. Especially not the people that were involved in the project of getting this instance.

It's nice how you can dismiss all criticism with mansplaining without facing up to the criticism or the statements.

not

Unfortunately, these are the negative consequences of the Twitter wave. In the old days, people would enquire and discuss what was wrong. Today, people are more likely to lash out at the messenger who says something is wrong.

And why shouldn't I tell the people who provided the server or got involved that something isn't right?

The Fediverse and the culture of discussion has unfortunately suffered greatly

Welcome!
After #uniinnsbruck you represent now the second role model for a modern university with an up-to-date communication plattform.
Hoping that the first German university will follow soon.
