Goddamn. Scientists have been trying to figure out what's driving the sudden increase in the rate of warming that has kicked temperatures above previously (recently) set high temp records and now they're saying it might be because of a decline in cloud cover. Which, if you've read Elizabeth Kolbert's "Under a White Sky," is a terrifying sign of a feedback loop possibly leading to a dreadful future with no clouds in the sky. Hence the title.

This archived WaPo article erroneously suggests we haven't breached the 1.5C mark. We have.
