Truly disturbing how many parenting books on autism do one or more of the following:
1) focus on "preventing" autism
2) focus on "healing" autism
3) treat having an autistic kid as a tragedy
With the amount of neurodivergence that
@nullagent and I have in our families, we will not be at all surprised if Assata is autistic.
Because it is GENETIC.
And not something to "fix."

But god is it disheartening to see how much of not only the literature, but the research itself, is truly appalling and uninformed about autism.
Way too many parents mourning the "tragedy" of having autistic kids, which is such a giant red flag.
