For those who may be unfamiliar with the history of Jordan and Palestinians, there was a time when Jordan welcomed many refugees. But some of those refugees formed terrorist organizations and caused much grief for Jordan - so Jordan expelled them.

That's a glib summation of the history. And there are still Jordanians of Palestinian descent.

But the main reason why Egypt and Jordan don't want Gazans moving into their countries is they don't want to deal with Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and other armed radical groups. That's like setting up a target and saying, "Here, Israel - come get some shooting practice."

Whether Jordan would last long in a war with Israel or the United States (or both) in an attempt to resist ethnic cleansing is doubtful - but I can understand why they don't want to take on the burden. They've already tried that.
